About Us
Rico Alpaca Stud was established in May 1995 when we purchased our first pregnant females. We began with 3 females and we have grown to over 100 alpacas at present.

We started in Silvan, in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges of Victoria, and in 1999 we moved our Alpacas to our new farm in Healesville in the picturesque Yarra Valley. On our new farm there is lots of room for our animals and they absolutely thrive out there!

From the beginning it has always been our aim to breed for fine fibre, good
conformation and temperament. We also try to breed to true colour where possible,
resulting in several of our alpacas now having solid one-colour pedigrees, going back three or four generations. We make use of the best
sires available, to ensure the quality of our crias is constantly improving.

After purchasing Samaria Vallay Saladin in 2007 our main focus is now on breeding black and grey huacayas. We are also SRS®Alpacas subscribers and Saladin is an SRS® registered male. His quality is reflected in his crias. Visitors are most welcome to take a look at Saladin and his offspring!
